Healthy deodorant

As some of you are getting ready for summer holidays, I thought it would be nice to remind you about deodorants and anti-antiperspirants. Definitely, they are not the healthiest thing in the world.

Reports have suggested that these products contain harmful substances, which can be absorbed through the skin or enter the body through nicks caused by shaving. Some scientists have also proposed that certain ingredients in underarm antiperspirants or deodorants may be related to breast cancer.

I haven’t used deodorant for years, but especially now that I am breastfeeding, this is totally forbidden. I don’t want to pass these dangerous ingredients to my baby. Then what should be done? I’ve been using a homemade deodorant that turns out to be very effective and very cheap. Would you like to know about it? First, please promise you will use it. πŸ˜‰

Here it goes:

Ingredients: baking soda, essential oil;

imagePut baking soda in a small container. Add 1 or 2 drops of an essential oil of your preference (lavender, geranium ,etc….). I like to use eucalyptus or peppermint in the summer as it gives you that fresh feeling under your arms. Mix it with a spoon and it’s done! Apply it directly to underarms.

This is really effective and can last the whole day. But in case you feel you need a refreshment just clean your armpits and add some more.

This mixture can also be used as toothpaste. However in this case you should use a peppermint or thyme or even clove essential oil.

Give it a try. I am sure you have baking soda in the refrigerator. J Make sure it is aluminum free ( as aluminum is not healthy for our bodies) and let me know how it goes.
