Paula, please tell us a little bit about yourself. Where are you from and since when are you in Saudi/Zamil Village? Are you married and do you have kids?
I’m from Portugal. I’ve been living in Saudi for almost 9 years, here in Zamil. I am married to Miguel and have two children, Tomas and Gabriel.

You are teaching Yoga in Zamil Village. Please, tell us a bit of your way how you came to do yoga and what’s your passion about it?
I had finished University and decided to try a Yoga class. I really didn’t like it. I felt strange just by holding such awkward poses. But a voice inside of me said “ You are going back to that class again.” I decided to follow that guidance and kept attending the classes. After some time I started to realize the profound effects on myself and the transformations in my life.
Are there some inspiring people, who guide you? Why is it good to practice yoga?
I always go back to my very first Yoga Teacher, Prof. Oliveira and my Master Teacher with whom I did my first Yoga Teacher Training, almost 10 years ago, Prof. Edna Mendes. My practice and teachings has so much of them. Through the years I also gained inspiration from many other teachers.
I could spend the whole day telling you about its benefits. But honestly this is only what you see from the outside: improves your flexibility, reduces back pain, makes you stronger physically and emotionally and can improve many illnesses. I’m only scratching the surface. I would say, these are actually the side effects of Yoga!
If people wanna join your yoga lessons, what kind of knowledge do they need to have and what kind of things do they need to bring?
I usually ask people if they have an active life style, if they practice any sports or any kind of movement. This because the class is a bit dynamic. But I always welcome beginners - I have a passion about making people fall in love with Yoga.
Each person is unique and comes to Yoga for different reasons. Also, each body has its own unique characteristics, thus I like to give variations of each pose to suit different levels and needs.
So, You don’t really need to know much. Just come with and open mind, a kind heart and a fierce willingness to improve your well being. I’ll do the rest.
Is it also possible to practice yoga if you have some health issues, for example with the back or others?
Yes. Yoga can actually improve and help to heal some issues like back pain, insomnia, anxiety, asthma,… But you should always consult your doctor first. I also need to know which issues you are dealing with so I can adapt the practice to your own needs.
Are you offering some other workshops, for example for men, or kids, or pregnant women? And are you also giving private lessons?
At the moment I’m offering The Woman’s Wisdom Workshop ( ladies only) and a Yoga Basics Course, for Yoga practitioners that want to improve their practice.
Please, tell us something about the women wisdom workshops you are offering? What, where and when is it and what do get people out of it?
In this workshop you learn tools to reclaim your natural state of Wellbeing through the practice of Yoga, Meditation and Self-care.
It’s a time for you to reflect about yourself and your life in a more deeper way , restore the physical body and tune in with your inner wisdom .
Society values our achievements and how much we are capable of accomplishing. Little do we know, that the time for pausing and renewing ourselves is what helps us to choose our ‘battles’ wisely, to select what is important, from what is not and to direct our energy to what really matters.
Through the years, I’ve observed that If a woman is happy, plenty and fulfilled her children will also be joyful and confident, and her husband will feel loved and totally inspired. So actually, although this workshop is for women only, it benefits all.

What are your future plans?
I want to keep spreading my work and help people to better improve their lives with more harmony, peace and joy. Maybe to open my own Yoga studio. Let’s see…

Always live as if nothing is for granted: not your things, not your job and even your loved ones. Live with deep gratitude for having your husband and your children by your side and love them as much as you can.You never know what the next day will bring or take away from you. In this way, you will never regret you didn’t love enough.
I would also add, quiet your mind in the morning for 10 to 20 minutes. Only after you find that Peace inside your heart, I would say, you are ready to start your day.
